Critical Illness Cover Considerations

Single or Joint policy
Would a joint policy be suitable or are two single policies required? A joint policy only pays out when the first person is diagnosed with a critical illness that meets the policies conditions.

Your Needs
How much would you need to cover debts / mortgages? Would you need money for medical expenses and changes to your home? Is Income Protection needed to provide a monthly income?

Length of policy
When will your debts/mortgage be paid off? How long would you and your family be dependent on your income? When do you intend to retire?
Critical Illness cover Types
The two main types of critical illness cover are level term and decreasing term.
Level term
Level term life is where the amount insured will remain the same during the term of your policy, so you’ll know exactly how much you will receive.

Decreasing term

Answer A Few Questions
Our Expert Will advise
We will complete an application with you
As part of the application, your expert will need to run through a series of questions with you:
- Details about you & your families health and medical history including any pre-existing medical conditions
- Information about your lifestyle including your occupation and whether you drink or smoke
- Whether you participate in any hazardous (high risk) hobbies (eg. Skydiving, base jumping etc.)
In most cases, you won’t need a medical exam. But if we do ask you to have one, don’t worry there won’t be any costs.
